Aarambha
Aarambha begins this academic year, 2006-07. It is a 4-year project to support lower-primary teachers with supporting methods and materials for Kannada Language and Environmental Studies (EVS) subjects.

Project Scope

 A total of six government and private Kannada-medium schools have been selected. About 12 teachers and 500 children will participate in this project. Every year the project will be extended to the next higher class E.g. in 2007-08, the project will be implemented in 1st and 2nd standards and so on.

Project Design

 The design of the Aarambha project is exactly same as the Poorana project.

Material Content

 The Aarambha Basket of supporting materials help:
  1. The teacher conduct activities mentioned in the textbook and some others designed by Dhwani
  2. The child absorb concepts in the lesson
  3. Expand the child's mental horizon
  4. Deepen teacher's subject matter knowledge
A given month's Aarambha basket of materials is a subset of the following:
  1. Sanchike (Booklet)
    1. 3-d models to give a touch and feel experience of learning points in the lesson
    2. Cassettes of sounds, rhymes and poems
  2. Activities and Games which will help the child experience and absorb
Dhwani suggests alternatives on usage of the materials. But, teachers will decide on how and when to use the materials depending on their ability, teaching style and comfort level.
